For over 40 years, I’ve competed, coached, and studied all aspects of performance, from youth to adult-level athletes. Now I want to apply the science of sports psychology to help others implement actionable behaviors and skills that will optimize life, family, school, health, athletics, and more.
My straightforward style is a no-nonsense approach to challenging my clients to accept that the zone of discomfort is the threshold we must cross to grow and move forward.
I began working with athletes in 1999 as a volunteer coach at Mesa Community College, Unattached Youth Track, and as a volunteer Highland High Distance and Jumps coach. I also spent 1 season as an assistant coach for the Park Buccaneers, an NAIA division track and field program. Combined, I have 30 years of experience working with track athletes.
I have expanded my coaching services to include virtual training for adult athletes nationwide who require specific performance goals within their training requests for service.
I am a USATF-certified coach who has taken numerous youth athletes to junior nationals in events ranging from the heptathlon to the 1500 meters.
For the last ten years, I have also been an assistant/volunteer coach at Highland High School in Gilbert, Arizona, where I worked with head coach Dave Montgomery and the Hawk distance runners. I also coached the Highland’s high jumpers for 2 years and led 6 jumpers to the Arizona 6A state championship.
I am a 1998 graduate of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., where I received my BS in social science. I ran cross country, where we achieved two CCAA Conference Championships in 1995 and 1996. In the 1995 season, I competed just four months after giving birth to my daughter, Allison.
Before my time at GCU, I ran two seasons at Northwest Missouri State, where I posted the top time at the school indoors in the 5K with a time of 18:52 and earned a 3rd place performance in the MIAA conference championships outdoors in the 10,000-meter with a time of 38:54.24 which is still listed amongst the top times in Northwest Missouri history.
I started my collegiate career at Mesa Community College, where I ran cross country and track and earned NJCAA All-America honors in the 4x800 meters.
I am a 1991 Mountain View High School graduate of Mesa, Ariz. I ran track and cross country, finishing my high school career with a 5th place finish in the 1991 Arizona State Track Championships in the 1600-meter run.
I have also earned my MBA and MS - PSY from Grand Canyon and a (Grad-Cert:) from Northern Arizona University in Positive Behavior Support (PBS), which included completing 600 hours of Behavioral Sports Performance supervision and case study.
I am a retired sergeant for the Phoenix Police Department and currently work in areas such as private run coach virtual and in person, strength and conditioning (in person and virtual) mental and behavioral performance coaching using Applied Behavioral Analysis and Sports Motivation Scales to assist athletes with overcoming performance barriers. I have also worked in nutrition coaching, which includes several aspects of psychology and behavioral modification.
I currently represent WingFoot Wellness and Hormones as their Athletic Performance Representative. I can personally say they have changed my life when it comes to wellness and performance sports, and I am hoping to help change other athletes’ lives with the gift of proper supplementation for performance and long-term health.
